Blomsterserviet – blue/green – Marlene Thorndahl (MTH)

"Blomsterserviet " (flower napkin) – Blue/Green is an embroidered napkin with a strong graphic expression. Repeated floral shapes form a calm border along the edge, while the colour palette of blue and green tones clearly references the textile aesthetics of the 1970s.

Although the design draws on unmistakable 70s influences, it is entirely new and developed in 2026. This gives the napkin a distinctive balance between nostalgia and contemporary design, where a classic visual language is reinterpreted through a modern lens.

The napkin is embroidered in cross stitch, which gives the motif structure and supports its graphic construction. The open centre creates visual space and calm on the table, making the napkin easy to combine with other textiles.

The embroidery is worked on Haandarbejdets Fremme Linen 12B, known for its stable quality and even thread structure, resulting in a precise stitch definition. Danish Flower Thread adds depth and clear colour intensity to the design.

The napkin fits naturally into both modern and more classic table settings. It works beautifully on its own or as part of a set and is suitable both as a bread napkin and as a decorative table detail.

At House of Needlework, we work with embroidery where tradition and renewal meet. Flower Napkin – Blue/Green by Marlene Thorndahl is a strong example of how a new design can embrace historical references while still feeling current—an excellent choice for B2B assortments focused on quality, design, and storytelling.
