"Grønland" (Greenland) - Advent calendar - Edith Hansen (EH) is an embroidery kit for a narrow and atmospheric Advent calendar. The motif shows a Greenlandic winter landscape with mountains, snow, sledge, boat and small Christmas details. At the bottom runs a red calendar border with numbers from 1 to 24 and rings for small calendar gifts.

The motif is built up as a long, horizontal scene. In the background are light mountains and a calm winter landscape. The subdued blue, grey and white tones give a clear sense of snow, cold and distance.

On the left is a boat with a Christmas tree, gifts and small details. The tree is decorated in golden and green shades. Beside it are parcels and red colour fields, which give the motif warmth.

In the centre of the motif is a sledge with gifts. It is pulled through the light landscape, where a figure stands by the sledge. An animal with antlers is also part of the scene and gives the motif a northern and wintry character.

On the right, an elf stands beside several gifts. Here, the story of the Advent calendar comes together in a small final scene. The red details tie the whole motif together and create a connection to the calendar border at the bottom.

The finished embroidery measures 17 × 67 cm. The narrow format makes the calendar suitable for hanging on a wall, in a hallway or in a cosy Christmas corner.

At the bottom, the numbers from 1 to 24 are embroidered. Beneath the numbers are rings where small calendar gifts can be hung. This makes the embroidery both decorative and useful throughout December.

The motif has a fine balance between Christmas tradition and winter storytelling. The red calendar details create a classic Christmas atmosphere. The mountains, snow and open horizon give the motif a calmer and more Nordic expression.

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread. The thread gives the colours a soft and lively expression. The red, blue and green tones stand out clearly on the light linen background.

The Advent calendar is embroidered on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The fabric provides a classic structure that suits both the small details and the long pictorial surface.

Haandarbejdets Fremme is known for embroidery kits with fine materials, beautiful motifs and a strong Danish embroidery tradition. In this kit, the practical function of the Advent calendar meets Edith Hansen’s fine sense of atmosphere.
