P1:3 - bag - by ren\u00e9e is a decorative cross-stitch embroidery kit designed by Swedish designer Ren\u00e9e Rudebrant. The black-and-white motif is built up of vertical pattern borders with diamonds, angles and repeated geometric forms. At the bottom, the design is finished with two wide borders that bring the pattern together and give the finished bag a striking and harmonious expression.<\/p>\n
The inspiration for the design comes from traditional cross-stitch embroidery on folk costumes. In many different cultures, the front panels, bodices and sleeves of costumes have been decorated with dense cross-stitch patterns. Ren\u00e9e Rudebrant has taken this tradition as her starting point and reworked it into a practical bag with a modern, graphic expression.<\/p>\n
The vertical fields alternate between light diamonds on a black background and dense rows of angled patterns. The narrow, light lines between the fields create a clear division and highlight the individual patterns. At the bottom, the forms sit more closely together and create a decorative finish that gives the bag visual weight.<\/p>\n
The motif is embroidered with black Danish Flower Thread on light linen. The simple colour combination highlights the many details of the pattern and creates a clear contrast between thread and fabric. Although only one thread colour is used, the surface feels varied because of the changing forms, open fields and dense sections.<\/p>\n
Danish Flower Thread has a matt and natural expression, which suits both the traditional inspiration and the graphic design well. The surface of the thread allows the individual cross stitches to stand out clearly without appearing shiny.<\/p>\n
The embroidery is stitched on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The visible structure of the linen becomes an active part of the motif, especially in the open diamonds and between the black pattern fields.<\/p>\n
P1:3 - bag - by ren\u00e9e contains the materials you need for both the embroidery and the finishing. The embroidery kit contains linen, Danish Flower Thread, needle, instructions and finishing materials.<\/p>\n
Once the embroidery is finished, it is made up into a bag with a drawstring closure. The finished bag measures 24 \u00d7 30 cm and can be used for storing yarn, embroidery accessories or smaller needlework projects. The red ends on the cords add a small colour contrast to the black-and-white design.<\/p>\n
