Brandmand - doily - Inger Marie Ringtved (IMR)

"Brandmand" (Jellyfish) - doily - Inger Marie Ringtved (IMR) is an embroidery kit with a maritime motif in shades of blue. Nine jellyfish are arranged in a regular 3 x 3 pattern, where the fine tentacles bring movement to the otherwise calm composition.

The motif is graphically interpreted and simple in form. The blue jellyfish stand out clearly against the light linen background, while a border of small squares brings the entire design together.

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The finished doily measures 15 x 15 cm.

Nine jellyfish with fine tentacles

The motif consists of nine jellyfish arranged in three even rows. Each jellyfish has a rounded, almost bell-shaped upper body and a series of long tentacles hanging beneath it.

The tentacles are embroidered as fine, undulating lines. They create movement in the motif and evoke jellyfish drifting gently through the water.

Small light details can be seen on the upper part of each jellyfish. They break up the blue areas and give the figures more character. At the same time, the repetition creates a calm rhythm throughout the doily.

Although all nine figures are based on the same shape, the many tentacles give the motif a lighter and more lively expression. This makes the design decorative without appearing busy.

A blue border around the marine motif

A simple border runs around the jellyfish. It is made up of small blue squares repeated along all four sides.

At the corners, the sections become larger and create a clear finish. This gives the frame character and emphasises the square shape of the doily.

The border creates space between the motif and the edge. At the same time, it brings the nine jellyfish together into one complete composition.

The colour palette is simple and cool. The blue shades create a clear connection to the sea and water, while the light linen background keeps the overall expression airy.

A small maritime embroidery for the table

The finished doily measures 15 x 15 cm. Its small format makes it suitable as a decorative detail on a dining table, tray, side table or chest of drawers.

Jellyfish - doily is particularly well suited to a holiday home, beach house or a home with maritime details. It can also be a fine small project for those who enjoy the forms of the sea and graphic patterns.

The motif works well with blue textiles, ceramics, wood and natural materials. The limited colour palette makes the doily easy to combine with other elements on the table.

Danish Flower Thread on linen 10B

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread. The matte surface of the thread gives the blue figures a soft and textile character.

The fabric is Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The light linen background highlights the jellyfish, tentacles and geometric border.

The repeated motif creates a pleasant rhythm while stitching. You can work through one jellyfish at a time and gradually see the complete pattern emerge.
