Brun Bjørneklo – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

"Brun Bjørneklo" (Brown Hogweed) – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is a botanical embroidery focusing on the distinctive form of the hogweed plant. The large flower head spreads out from a strong stem, where numerous small umbels create a light and branching pattern.

The motif is constructed with careful precision. Fine stems and small flower clusters form a network of lines that give the embroidery a clear structure and a calm, balanced composition. The restrained colour palette in brown tones highlights the plant’s form and details.

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread, which produces clear and precise stitches. The limited colour range emphasises the graphic character of the motif and creates an elegant expression.

The design was developed for Haandarbejdets Fremme and is embroidered on Linen 7U from Haandarbejdets Fremme. The fabric structure gives the embroidery a distinct stitch definition, allowing the fine botanical details to appear clearly.

Gerda Bengtsson was known for her botanical motifs, where the forms of nature are rendered with great accuracy. In this design, the characteristic hogweed flower head forms the central element, creating a calm and decorative wall piece.
