Fiskebåd - Advent calendar - Ingrid Plum (IP)
"Fiskebåd" (Fishing Boat) - Advent calendar - Ingrid Plum (IP) is an embroidery kit with a humorous and maritime Christmas motif. A red fishing boat sails through the design with two elves on board, while a black cat has found a place in the middle of the deck. Beneath the boat swim 24 small fish, each marked with a number from 1 to 24.
The motif combines Christmas, the sea and storytelling in an unusual way. The clear colours and small details make the calendar a design to explore throughout December.
The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The finished Advent calendar measures 38 x 64 cm.
A red fishing boat with elves and a cat
At the centre of the motif is the red fishing boat. The hull is embroidered in several red and pink shades with horizontal stripes that give the boat structure and depth.
Two elves are on board. They wear red hats and dark and green clothing, making them stand out clearly against the light background. One sits at the front, while the other stands further aft holding a line.
Between them sits a small black cat. The dark figure becomes a fine focal point in the middle of the boat and adds extra charm to the motif.
The boat has a golden triangular sail. At the top of the mast is a green branch or small fir-like shape, adding another subtle Christmas reference to the design.
24 fish form the Advent calendar
Beneath the boat, the 24 days of the calendar are represented by small fish. Each fish has its own number from 1 to 24 and is positioned between blue lines illustrating the water.
The fish are embroidered in different colours. Pink, red, brown, orange and violet shades create variation from day to day. The many small fish give the calendar section a playful expression and naturally complement the fishing boat above.
The traditional Advent calendar is therefore interpreted in a distinctive way. Instead of 24 identical sections, the days of December become part of the maritime motif.
Stars and sky above the fishing boat
At the top of the motif is a series of golden stars. They are scattered across the light linen background and give the calendar a warm glow.
In the upper right corner is a large round golden shape that may bring to mind the sun or moon. Together with the stars, it creates a simple sky above the boat.
The open background gives the motif space. This allows both the boat and the numbered fish to stand out clearly, even though the calendar contains many small elements.
An Advent calendar with a maritime character
The finished Advent calendar measures 38 x 64 cm. The vertical format provides plenty of room for the sky, fishing boat and the 24 calendar fish.
Fishing Boat - Advent calendar is ideal for a home where Christmas can include a little humour and personality. The motif also works well in a holiday home or for a family with a particular love of the sea, boats and fishing.
The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread. The matte character of the thread gives the red, blue, green, golden and violet shades a soft expression.
The fabric is Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The light linen background provides a calm frame for the colourful motif and highlights the many small cross-stitch details.
