Haandarbejdets Fremme (HF) – Calendar 2024

The Year In Cross Stitch 2024

Haandarbejdets Fremme (HF) – Calendar 2024 presents The Year In Cross Stitch 2024, designed by Rikke Ruff. The calendar contains 12 unique cross stitch motifs, drawing inspiration from Knud Rasmussen’s House in Hundested and the distinctive atmosphere associated with Greenland and the Arctic landscape.

The motifs are characterised by a strong sense of colour, rhythm and composition. Rikke Ruff has worked with interpretations of historical textile elements and patterns, including references to a cushion from Knud Rasmussen’s House as well as inspiration from Anna Sarauw’s embroidery. The result is a series of designs where classic expressions meet a contemporary interpretation.

The calendar functions as a pattern collection, where each motif can be worked as an individual embroidery project. At the same time, the designs are visually connected through colour choices and form, allowing them to be combined into a cohesive series. The motifs are worked in cross stitch, making them suitable for both intermediate and experienced embroiderers seeking depth and variation.

The colour palette ranges from muted natural tones to more pronounced contrasts, supporting the graphic structures of the designs. There is a clear focus on detail and on creating embroidery that is both decorative and meaningful in its composition.

The calendar is produced with spiral binding, making it practical to use during embroidery, as the pages can lie flat. It is therefore well suited as a working tool both in retail environments and for personal use.
