Juletrafik – advent calendar – Inger Ingrid Plum (IP)
"Juletrafik" (Christmas Traffic) – Advent calendar – Inger Ingrid Plum (IP) is a narrative embroidery in which the month of December unfolds as a lively procession. The motif stretches horizontally across the entire surface. The numbers from 1 to 24 mark the days leading up to Christmas.
Along the scene, children dressed in Santa hats and winter clothing carry lights in their hands as they move through the composition. Small cars drive by with parcels and wrapped gifts. In the midst of the procession, a black cat appears, adding a playful element. The composition is rhythmically structured with repetition and subtle variation.
The colour palette is dominated by red, green and blue tones. The colours stand clearly against the natural ground of the linen. Danish Flower Thread gives the embroidery a dense and saturated surface. Linen 7B from Haandarbejdets Fremme supports the clarity of the stitches and reinforces the graphic expression.
The design is rooted in Haandarbejdets Fremme’s tradition of figurative and narrative embroidery. The elongated format makes the calendar suitable as a wall hanging throughout December. It functions both as a daily countdown and as a decorative embroidery with distinct character.
