"Juletrafik" (Christmas Traffic) - Advent calendar - Ingrid Plum (IP) is an embroidery kit with a humorous and colourful December story. The motif stretches across the entire length of the calendar and shows people, cars, Christmas presents, animals and fir trees making their way through the busy days of Christmas.
The 24 numbers run along the lower edge from left to right. Above them, the Christmas traffic unfolds like a small parade. A yellow car is loaded with presents, while a red car continues the story further along. Between the cars are figures dressed in winter clothing, while small black cats and birds bring extra life to the motif.
The Advent calendar is embroidered with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 7B. The finished embroidery measures an impressive 96 x 16 cm.

The bustle of Christmas told as one long scene

The motif is arranged as one continuous Christmas story. Instead of gathering the calendar into a square design, the scene moves horizontally across the entire 96 cm length.
On the left is a simple green fir tree. This is followed by figures wearing, among other colours, pink, blue and striped outfits. They stand between the calendar’s vehicles and give the motif the character of a small Christmas parade.
The first car is embroidered in warm yellow and orange shades. It is filled with presents in red, blue and green, stacked high behind the driver’s seat. This gives a clear impression that the Christmas presents are on their way.
Further along is a red car. Here too, there is activity around the vehicle, and the strong red colours form a natural focal point in the long composition.

Cats, birds and small details between the cars

Christmas Traffic contains many small elements that are only discovered when you look more closely at the motif.
Between the cars are black cats with raised tails. Above them fly small dark birds. They add humour and movement and make the scene feel less regular.
Small golden stars and light details are also scattered among the figures. They emphasise the Christmas theme without filling the entire background.
Simple green fir trees stand at both ends. They almost act as the beginning and end of the long story.

24 December days along the lower edge

Along the entire lower section of the Advent calendar are the numbers from 1 to 24. They follow the motif in an uninterrupted row and make the calendar function part of the design itself.
Beneath the numbers are red rings running along the edge. They create a repeated decorative element and emphasise the long format of the calendar.
The numbers are positioned directly beneath the different figures and vehicles. As a result, they do not appear as a separate section, but as a natural part of the entire Christmas traffic scene.
