Robinie – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB)
"Robinie" (Black locust) – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is a botanical embroidery in which the characteristic form of the black locust tree is rendered with fine detail. The slender trunk supports a broad crown of branches and light foliage that spreads outward in a natural and airy structure.
The motif is built around the interplay between the darker branches and the light green leaves. Numerous small leaves appear in layers around the branches, creating a lively composition that clearly emphasises the tree’s light and elegant growth.
The colours range from deeper green tones to fresh spring greens. The contrast between the branches and the foliage adds depth to the motif and makes the structure of the tree easy to read.
The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread, which produces clear colours and a well-defined stitch pattern. The structure of the thread highlights both the delicate branches and the many small leaves in the crown.
The design was developed for Haandarbejdets Fremme and is embroidered on Linen 10B from Haandarbejdets Fremme. The fabric’s structure provides a precise stitch definition in which the botanical details of the tree appear clearly.
