Tulipan 01 – placemat – Ellen Marie Rodil (EMR)
Tulip 01 is a coffee placemat with a distinctly sensory and poetic expression, in which the different stages of the tulip are interpreted with great lightness. A flower in full bloom, a bud, and a fallen flower head together form a quiet narrative of movement and transience.
The motif is placed with clear intention across the surface. The embroidered elements are positioned in separate areas of the placemat, leaving a generous central field free of embroidery. This gives the design space to breathe and emphasises the natural texture of the linen. Fine vertical drawn-thread lines create a subtle rhythm that binds the composition together without drawing attention away from the motif.
The colour palette is restrained and nuanced. Soft pink and violet tones in the flower stand in beautiful contrast to the green stems and buds. Danish Flower Thread adds depth and vitality to the embroidery, creating a gentle play across the surface that is enhanced by the light linen ground.
Tulip 01 – Coffee Placemat – Ellen Marie Rodil (EMR) functions ideally as a coffee placemat, where the simple and elegant expression brings calm to the table setting. The design can be used on its own or combined with other variations in the Tulip series for a cohesive and harmonious whole. The placemat appeals to retailers seeking a timeless Danish design with a strong sense of materials and high craftsmanship quality.
