Vintergæk – doily / napkin – Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

This doily / napkin is decorated with an embroidery of snowdrops. The motif shows a small cluster of flowers growing together from the ground.

Slender stems rise upward and bend gently forward. At the top hang the characteristic white bell-shaped blossoms. The flowers face downward, giving the motif a light and elegant expression.

The petals are embroidered in soft, light tones that stand clearly against the green stems and leaves. This contrast emphasises the simple form of the flower.

At the base of the plant a group of long, narrow leaves grows outward in several directions. The varying green shades add depth and life to the motif.

Below the plant a small root appears in warm earthy tones, creating a natural transition between the ground and the fresh leaves. The motif therefore appears as a small botanical study.

The embroidery is worked in cross stitch with Danish Flower Thread on linen. The fine stitches give the design structure and highlight both flowers and leaves. The result is a classic embroidery with a calm nature motif.

As a doily / napkin, the design brings a subtle touch of spring to the table setting.
