Haandarbejdets Fremme (HF) – Calendar 2017

Årets Korssting 2017

Haandarbejdets Fremme Calendar 2017 presents The Year In Cross Stitch 2017, designed by Aase Margrethe Legene and Eva Aaberg Westh. The calendar contains 12 cross stitch motifs inspired by historical samplers from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The designs are rooted in traditional Danish textiles and reinterpreted with respect for the original craftsmanship. At the same time, they are presented with a clear and contemporary expression. Ornamentation, floral elements and symbolic forms are combined to create embroidery with strong character.

Each design is built from smaller elements that are arranged in new ways. This creates variation and allows for creative flexibility when working with the motifs. Some designs are rich in colour and detail, while others are more restrained, particularly in blue and white tones.

Cross stitch is the primary technique throughout, making the calendar suitable for both intermediate and experienced embroiderers. The motifs are accessible while still offering fine detail. They can be worked individually or combined into a cohesive series.

The calendar also allows for personal interpretation through colour choices. The motifs can be adapted and used across a range of applications, from home textiles to smaller decorative projects.

The spiral binding makes the calendar practical to use, allowing the pages to lie flat while working. This makes it suitable as a working tool both in retail environments and at home.
