The Year In Cross Stitch 2018
Haandarbejdets Fremme Calendar 2018 presents The Year In Cross Stitch 2018, designed by Conni Schimmell. The calendar contains 12 cross stitch motifs inspired by the nature surrounding Trundholm Mose in Odsherred.
The designs are based on animals and birds from the Danish landscape. Deer, birds and smaller animals form the foundation of the motifs. The expression is calm and recognisable, with a focus on the details and atmosphere of nature.
The motifs were originally developed as watercolours and later translated into embroidery. This process results in a soft and nuanced colour composition, while maintaining a clear and simple form that works well in cross stitch.
Each motif functions as an individual embroidery project but can also be seen as part of a cohesive series. The calendar offers both immersion and variation in embroidery work.
Cross stitch is the primary technique throughout, making the calendar suitable for both intermediate and experienced embroiderers. The motifs are accessible while still containing fine details.
The spiral binding makes the calendar practical to use, allowing the pages to lie flat during work. This makes it suitable as a working tool both in retail environments and at home.
