Havens ukrudt - table runner - Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

Weeds may be the first thing you feel like pulling up. But when you look more closely, small botanical wonders are often hidden among stems, leaves and wild flowers. Garden Weeds - table runner - Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is an embroidery kit where overlooked plants are allowed to become the fine focal point of the table. Here, the wild growth of the garden is gathered in a beautiful and light embroidery design, with both the randomness of nature and Gerda Bengtsson’s precise eye for plants.

A motif with wild flowers and fine plant stems

The motif shows a broad collection of different weeds and wild flowers growing up from the lower field of the table runner. The plants stand closely together, yet the expression still feels airy. There are long, thin stems, small leaves, tall spikes and flowers in several colours.

In the centre, there are dark, upright spikes or seed heads, which give the motif height and structure. Around them grow blue-violet bell-shaped flowers that bend gently out to the sides. They add a soft and light movement to the embroidery. To the left and right are small yellow flowers that light up among the green and more subdued plant parts. Pink flowers and buds give the motif a fine warmth, while the green leaves and stems bring the whole composition together.

The motif feels like a small section of a garden edge, where the wild is allowed to be beautiful. There are slender plants, coarse leaves, flowers, seed heads and small details, making the embroidery interesting to work on.

A table runner with botanical charm

The finished table runner measures 30 x 100 cm. The long format gives plenty of space for the calm structure of the motif. The plants stand as a decorative garden base at each end or as a striking motif field on the table runner, while the light linen background gives air and elegance.

Along the edge, there is a fine border that frames the embroidery and gives the table runner a finished and classic expression. The border is discreet, but it has great importance for the overall design. It gathers the motif and makes the table runner suitable for everyday use, summer tables, garden tables and more classic table settings.

Garden Weeds - table runner - Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is embroidered with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. Danish Flower Thread gives the colours a soft, natural and botanical expression. It is particularly well suited to the many green tones, purple flowers, yellow flower heads and small pink details of the motif.

Haandarbejdets Fremme and Gerda Bengtsson’s eye for the overlooked

Haandarbejdets Fremme is known for embroidery kits where materials, colours and motifs are carefully balanced. In this kit, linen 10B, Danish Flower Thread and a motif come together to show how classic embroidery can make even the most modest plants of the garden worthy of the finest place on the table.

Gerda Bengtsson had a special ability to see the forms of nature clearly. In this embroidery, weeds are not treated as something unwanted. They are shown as a rich and varied part of the garden. The wild flowers, seed heads, stems and leaves together create a table runner with lightness, calm and botanical character. It is an embroidery kit for those who love nature motifs, classic needlework and embroidery with a fine tribute to what is otherwise easily overlooked.
