"Julefest" (Christmas Party) - Advent calendar - Ingrid Plum (IP) is an embroidery kit with a long and narrative December frieze. A row of Pixies moves through the motif carrying everything needed for a cosy Christmas party. They bring presents, flowers, bottles, food and lit candles before the story ends at the decorated Christmas tree.
The motif stretches across the entire length of the calendar. The 24 numbers run along the lower edge, while red rings make it possible to hang small calendar gifts beneath the embroidery.
The Advent calendar is embroidered with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 7B. The finished embroidery measures 100 x 16 cm.

Pixies on their way to a Christmas party

The motif can be read as a small Christmas story from left to right. The Pixies are on their way, each bringing something for the party.
The first Pixie carries a large green present with a golden ribbon. Further along, another figure carries a bowl or basket filled with flowers and Christmas decorations.
Another Pixie carries two green bottles. More figures follow with dishes and other items for the Christmas table. In this way, the sense of anticipation grows as you move through the calendar.
The Pixies are embroidered in clear colours. Red hats are repeated throughout the motif, while their outfits vary between blue, green, grey and red shades.
Several of the figures wear patterned aprons or skirts. Checks in red, green, blue and white bring extra life to the calendar and make the individual Pixies different from one another.

Presents, candles and Christmas food

It is the many small details that make Christmas Party distinctive. Each Pixie arrives with something different.
Among the details are a wrapped present, bottles and various dishes. One of the Pixies carries a candlestick with three golden candles. This gives the motif a warm connection to the Christmas table and the lit candles of December.
Above the figures hang small dark lanterns with red and golden details. They are repeated at regular intervals and create rhythm throughout the long motif.
The small elements make the calendar interesting to follow day by day. There are always new details to discover in the Pixies’ clothing and the things they carry with them.

The Christmas tree awaits on 24 December

The story ends at a decorated Christmas tree on the right-hand side. The tree is green with golden garlands and small decorations. At the top is a golden star.
At the foot of the tree is a small grey cat. It provides a charming final detail in the motif and gives the scene a humorous touch.
The placement of the Christmas tree at the end of the calendar fits beautifully with the December story. The Pixies move through the days carrying everything for the party, and by the 24th the Christmas tree is ready.

24 days and rings for calendar gifts

The numbers from 1 to 24 run along the entire lower edge of the calendar. The red numbers are an integrated part of the design and follow the Pixies on their journey towards Christmas Eve.
Beneath the numbers are 24 red rings. Small presents, bags or other calendar gifts can be hung from them.
This makes Christmas Party more than a decorative wall hanging. The calendar can be used throughout December and become a permanent part of the family’s Christmas traditions.
The long format of 100 x 16 cm works well above a chest of drawers, along a wall or anywhere the motif can be seen in its full length.

Danish Flower Thread on linen 7B

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread. The thread gives the red, blue, green and golden colours a soft and classic expression.
The fabric is Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 7B. The light background creates space between the figures and highlights the many clear colours.
The long motif offers plenty of variation while stitching. Each Pixie has its own colours and details. At the same time, the repeated red hats, lanterns and calendar numbers bring the design together.
