Nissejul - table runner - Ingrid Plum (IP)

"Nissejul" (Pixie Christmas) - table runner - Ingrid Plum (IP) is an embroidery kit with a lively and narrative Christmas motif. At both ends of the runner are three Pixies on their way with their individual contributions to the Christmas preparations. One carries a wrapped present, one brings a basket or bowl filled with flowers, and one carries green bottles.
The Pixies are embroidered in clear Christmas colours with red hats, blue, green and pink outfits, as well as small golden details. The long central area is left unembroidered. This allows the motifs at the ends to remain the focus while leaving plenty of space for tableware and Christmas decorations.
The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The finished table runner measures 25 x 93 cm.

Three Pixies on their way to Christmas

The motif tells a small story about the busy preparations for Christmas. The three Pixies move forward with their arms full.
The first Pixie carries a green present with a golden ribbon. The bright gift creates a clear focal point and immediately sets the scene: Christmas presents are on their way.
The next Pixie carries a full basket or bowl of flowers in pink and green shades. The figure is dressed in a blue skirt and a red-and-white patterned apron. This adds extra colour and textile character to the motif.
The third Pixie arrives with green bottles on a dish or tray. The figure is dressed in green trousers and a blue top. Together, the three Pixies give the impression that everyone is contributing something to Christmas.

Colourful outfits and small details

Ingrid Plum has given each Pixie its own expression. The red hats tie the figures together, while their clothing varies in colour and shape.
Blue, green, grey, pink and red appear in different combinations. Small checks and patterns create further variation. This brings the motif to life without losing its sense of cohesion.
The figures are simple and decorative. Their small faces and busy poses give them personality. The Pixies almost appear to be in the middle of the Christmas rush, making sure that presents, flowers and drinks arrive in time.

Motifs at both ends and calm in the centre

"Nissejul" (Pixie Christmas) measures 25 x 93 cm and features embroidery at both ends. The long central area is left free of embroidery.
This layout works well on the Christmas table. Dishes, candles, decorations and tableware can be placed in the centre without covering the main motifs.
When the runner is placed on a dining table, the Pixies are visible from both sides. This creates balance and makes the table runner decorative from several angles.
The light linen background also provides a calm contrast to the colourful figures. This keeps the motif from feeling heavy, even though the Pixies are embroidered in many shades.

A narrative motif for the Christmas table

"Nissejul" (Pixie Christmas) works well on a classic Danish Christmas table, where textiles and needlework can form part of the decoration. The motif has humour and warmth, while remaining simple enough to combine with both traditional and more understated Christmas decorations.
The table runner can be used on a dining table, a long coffee table or a sideboard. It can be brought out throughout December and become a permanent part of the Christmas decorations year after year.
The long format gives the motif plenty of space. At the same time, the small stories of the Pixies remain clearly visible at both ends.

Danish Flower Thread on linen 10B

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread. The matte surface of the thread gives the many Christmas colours a soft and textile expression.
The fabric is Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The fine linen structure suits the figures and the many small details in the clothing, presents, flowers and bottles.
The motif offers plenty of variation while stitching. Each Pixie has its own colours and details. At the same time, the composition is repeated at the opposite end, giving the table runner a harmonious overall appearance.

Ingrid Plum’s Pixies busy with Christmas preparations

With Pixie Christmas, Ingrid Plum has created a motif where the Pixies are not simply decorative figures. They are on their way and each has a task of their own. This gives the table runner a small story about all the preparations that are part of Christmas.
Haandarbejdets Fremme is known for embroidery kits with fine materials and Christmas motifs that can be enjoyed for many years.
Pixie Christmas - table runner - Ingrid Plum (IP) is an embroidery kit for those who love colourful Pixies, classic cross stitch and hand-embroidered decorations for the Christmas table.
