Mælkebøtte - wall piece - Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

"Mælkebøtten" (The dandelion) is one of the plants most people know. It appears in lawns, roadside verges and between paving stones, insisting on being robust, lively and beautiful. In this embroidery kit, Gerda Bengtsson has brought the familiar plant into a botanical wall piece, where leaves, buds, seed heads and root all have their place. The motif shows the dandelion as more than an everyday plant. Here, it becomes an elegant and detailed embroidery design with a fine balance between natural plant form and decorative calm.

A botanical motif with leaves, buds and seed heads

The motif shows a whole dandelion plant from root to flower head. At the bottom is the dark root, which anchors the plant and gives the motif a clear botanical structure. From here, the green leaves spread out to the sides. The leaves are divided and vary in size, direction and colour. Some are fresh and light green, while others have darker and deeper green tones. This gives the embroidery life and makes the plant recognisable.

From the leaf rosette, several long, slender stems rise upwards. They stretch in different directions and create an airy composition. At the top are the white seed heads, standing as light, round forms above the plant. They are embroidered with fine pale shades and discreet outlines, giving them a floating and almost transparent expression.

Between the seed heads, there are also dark green and yellow buds. They show the plant in several stages at once. There is what has not yet opened, what has flowered and what has become fine seed heads. This development is exactly what makes the motif interesting and alive.

A large wall piece with the simple strength of nature

The finished wall piece measures 54 x 33 cm. The format gives plenty of space for the broad plant form, where leaves and stems can spread naturally across the linen background. The light background highlights the green shades and gives air around the many details.

This embroidery kit is embroidered with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. Danish Flower Thread gives the colours a soft and natural expression, which is particularly well suited to Gerda Bengtsson’s botanical motifs. The green leaves gain depth, the yellow buds gain warmth, and the white seed heads stand lightly against the fabric.

As a finished piece of embroidery, the motif is beautifully suited for framing. It fits well in a home where plants, nature motifs and classic Danish embroidery are appreciated. The dandelion has a simple expression, but the large size and many botanical details give the wall piece a clear presence.

Haandarbejdets Fremme and Gerda Bengtsson’s eye for plants

Haandarbejdets Fremme is known for embroidery kits where materials, colours and motif are carefully balanced. In this kit, linen 10B, Danish Flower Thread and a design come together based on the strong tradition of botanical embroidery. The finished embroidery gains both classic calm and a clear handmade quality.

Gerda Bengtsson has a special ability to see the beauty in plants that might otherwise seem ordinary. In Dandelion - wall piece - Gerda Bengtsson (GB), the plant is depicted with respect for its form, growth and character. It is an embroidery kit for those who love botanical wall pieces, fine plant details and embroidery with a calm, natural expression.
