Tårne – wall piece – Ida Winckler (IW)

"Towers" is a graphic wall piece in which Ida Winckler interprets Copenhagen’s architectural landmarks in a restrained and elegant visual language. The motif consists of a series of distinctive towers and spires placed side by side in a continuous silhouette. Above the skyline, the name Copenhagen is subtly integrated, anchoring the design both geographically and culturally.

The composition is horizontal and rhythmic. The towers vary in height, form, and detail, yet are unified by a shared baseline that creates calm and cohesion. The repetition of vertical elements gives the piece a clear pulse, while variation ensures visual movement across the surface.

The colour palette is simple and consistent. Blue tones lend the motif a cool, architectural character and emphasise its graphic expression. The colour stands out clearly against the light linen background, highlighting both contours and details. Danish Flower Thread contributes a matte surface that adds depth and precision to the stitching.

Linen 10B provides a stable and calm background that supports the motif’s clean lines and gives the wall piece a classic Nordic character. The fabric’s texture adds a tactile quality that balances the stringent design.

Towers functions as a decorative wall piece with a strong sense of identity and place. It works well as a stand-alone piece or as part of a series of graphic city and architectural motifs. For retailers, the design is an obvious choice for assortments focused on Danish design, cultural heritage, and modern embroidery in a timeless format.
