Vildvin - doily / napkin - Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

"Vildvin" (Virginia Creeper) - doily / napkin - Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is a beautiful embroidery design in cross stitch featuring a decorative wreath of trailing Virginia creeper. The motif is composed of elegant leaves in pink, dusty red and deep burgundy shades, winding around the centre in a harmonious and lively circle. The delicate green tendrils and small leaves add lightness and movement to the embroidery and enhance its botanical expression.

Gerda Bengtsson was known for her special ability to transform the forms of nature into timeless embroidery. In this motif, the characteristic leaves and tendrils of the Virginia creeper are highlighted with simplicity and precision. The colours evoke thoughts of late summer and early autumn, when the vine changes from green to warm reddish shades and creates an almost glowing effect on walls and fences.

The circular wreath shape gives the embroidery a calm and decorative expression that suits table settings and classic textiles beautifully. The motif works especially well as a doily / napkin, adding an elegant and handmade character to the table. The open centre of the design creates balance and gives the embroidery a light and airy appearance.

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen fabric 12B. The fine linen allows for small, detailed cross stitches and an elegant result with a clearly defined texture. The shades of the thread highlight the soft transitions between the leaves and bring life and depth to the motif.

The doily / napkin can be used both for everyday dining and special occasions. It fits beautifully into Nordic interiors and is also a classic example of Danish embroidery design inspired by nature. The motif combines decorative simplicity with botanical precision, making the embroidery timeless and enjoyable year after year.
