Behind the rigorous expression lies a strong source of inspiration. Over the years, Renée Rudebrant has traveled regularly to Tanzania and worked on the project Sjysta sjalar – in English, Tailored Shawls – for single mothers. Here, textiles are characterized by intense colors and patterns, and combinations that may seem impossible at first glance become natural and alive.
This experience has shaped her approach to design. She has taken the feeling of freedom in compositions and the courage to let contrasts meet with her into her most austere and reduced works – here interpreted in a black and white universe.
