K1:13 cushion is a graphic embroidery design created by Renée Rudebrant. The cushion is decorated with a charming, flat-covering pattern of small water lilies, which together create a lively and rhythmic expression. The fine black shapes are broken by small red details, which add energy to the pattern and a touch of playful contrast.

Shape and materials that highlight the motif

The cushion measures approx. 40 × 40 cm and is embroidered on natural white linen (10.5 threads/cm) with Appleton wool. The combination of the calm structure of the linen and the fullness of the wool gives the embroidery clarity and depth and supports the graphic shapes in the pattern. The cushion is mounted with the included black cotton backing, which brings the expression together and provides a calm finish.

Inspiration from the garden and the waiting time

Regarding the design process, Renée Rudebrant says that she drew and developed the pattern while she was waiting for the water lilies to bloom in her newly established garden pond. The waiting time was translated into a pattern where nature's repetitions and small variations were allowed to unfold in textile form.

The delicate water lilies with their various red details invite contemplation and close study - a pattern that you can explore and which is almost impossible to get in a bad mood from.
