A simple motif with a big impact
K1:8 cushion is a graphic embroidery design created by Renée Rudebrant. The motif is made in cross stitch and is based on a simple, continuous graphic element that is repeated row by row. The color combination in black and red gives the design both calm and excitement and is characteristic of Renée Rudebrant's strict and conscious design language.
Format and materials that support the pattern
The cushion measures approx. 40 × 60 cm and is embroidered on natural white linen (10.5 threads/cm) with Appleton wool. The elongated format highlights the repetitions and rhythm of the pattern, while the interaction between the structure of the linen and the fullness of the wool gives the embroidery a clear and tactile expression. The back is made of black cotton, which brings the design together and supports the contrast in the embroidery.
When everyday life becomes inspiration
About the design process, Renée Rudebrant says that she finds it fascinating how thoughts flow freely when she works with shapes and patterns. A completely ordinary everyday object can suddenly become the starting point for a new design. In this case, it was a simple necklace she often wears that inspired the pattern on the K1:8 cushion.
This way of working reflects Renée Rudebrant's approach to textile graphics, where the intimate and personal meets the rigorous and repetitive.
A graphic design with a personal origin
The K1:8 cushion is aimed at embroiderers and retailers who are looking for a simple but distinctive graphic design, made of quality materials and with a clear story about how inspiration can arise in the very close.
