"Liden klokke" (Harebell) (J) – placemat – Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is decorated with a beautiful embroidery of the harebell, presented as a botanical motif where the entire plant is shown from root to flower. The motif is placed along the left side of the placemat, giving the design a light and elegant expression, while the open surface on the right creates calmness in the table setting.

At the base of the motif the plant’s root spreads into fine branches in warm brown tones. Above the root a small cluster of leaves grows close to the ground. These leaves are small and rounded, forming a soft green base around the plant.

From this base several slender stems rise upward through the design. The stems are fine and lightly branched, and along them narrow green leaves follow the direction of the stems. The many thin branches give the plant a delicate and almost airy appearance.

At the top of the stems the small bell-shaped flowers appear. They are embroidered in soft violet tones and hang gently downward like tiny bells. Some flowers appear individually, while others gather in small groups along the fine side branches. This variation gives the motif a natural rhythm, where the blossoms seem to float lightly above the slender stems.

The embroidery is worked in cross stitch with Danish Flower Thread on linen. The fine stitches highlight the slender stems and the small flowers, giving the motif a clear structure. A green border frames the placemat and completes the design with a calm and balanced finish.

The result is a classic embroidery with a nature-inspired motif, where the violet bells create a light and poetic expression on the table.
