P1:4 - bag - by renée
P1:4 - bag - by renée is a decorative cross-stitch embroidery kit, designed by Swedish designer Renée Rudebrant. The graphic motif is embroidered with red Danish Flower Thread on light linen and consists of dense pattern fields, vertical borders and repeated geometric forms. The finished bag measures 24 × 30 cm and has a striking expression inspired by traditional embroidery.
The design is built up of several different patterns, which together form a cohesive surface. In the upper section, vertical fields alternate with angles, dots and narrow lines. At the bottom, the motif is finished with wide horizontal borders featuring angular forms and interwoven pattern sequences. The division creates rhythm and variation, even though the whole embroidery is worked with the same red thread colour.
The classic red colour stands out clearly against the light linen. At the same time, the open areas between the cross stitches allow the natural structure of the fabric to become a visible part of the design.
Inspiration from traditional cross-stitch embroidery
Renée Rudebrant has drawn inspiration from cross-stitch embroidery on traditional costumes. In many folk cultures, front panels, sleeves and other parts of clothing were covered with dense patterns, often worked in red thread.
In the P1:4 bag, this tradition has been reworked into a contemporary and usable embroidery project. The repeated borders and geometric forms bring historical textiles to mind, while the simple bag shape makes the result practical for everyday use.
Cross stitch with Danish Flower Thread
The motif is embroidered with red Danish Flower Thread. The matt surface of the thread suits the traditional inspiration of the design and allows the individual cross stitches to stand out clearly. The single-colour palette means that the variation in the pattern is created through stitch placement, dense surfaces and open areas rather than through many different colours.
The embroidery is stitched on Haandarbejdets Fremme linen 10B. The structure of the linen gives the embroidery a natural and lively expression, while the light background highlights the red pattern.
A complete embroidery kit with finishing materials
P1:4 - bag - by renée contains the materials you need for both the embroidery and the subsequent finishing. You receive linen, Danish Flower Thread, needle, instructions and finishing materials.
Once the embroidery is finished, it is made up into a bag with a drawstring closure. It can be used for storing yarn, embroidery accessories or smaller creative projects, among other things. The result is an embroidery that is both decorative and useful.
