Bøg – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

"Bøg" (Beech) – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is a botanical embroidery featuring a solitary beech tree. The tree is depicted with a slender trunk and a broad, light crown of fresh green leaves.

The motif is composed with focus on the natural form of the tree. The branches spread outward in several layers, creating a light and lively crown. The many shades of green give depth to the foliage and highlight the characteristic structure of the beech leaves.

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread, which provides clear colours and a dense stitch structure. The different green tones create variation in the foliage, while the trunk appears calm and clearly defined within the composition.

The design was developed for Haandarbejdets Fremme and is embroidered on Linen 10B from Haandarbejdets Fremme. The fabric’s structure allows for precise embroidery where the cross stitches appear clear and well defined.

Gerda Bengtsson is known for her nature motifs, where plants and trees are rendered with simplicity and precision. This wall piece highlights the character of the beech and presents a calm motif inspired by the Danish landscape.
