Tretorn – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB)

"Tretorn" (Honey Locust) – wall piece – Gerda Bengtsson (GB) is a botanical embroidery in which a large honey locust tree stands at the centre of the motif. The tree’s crown is dense and lush, and the many small leaves form a lively and natural structure.

The motif is composed with a clearly defined trunk and a broad crown that spreads out in several layers. Fine branches and foliage create depth in the embroidery and give the tree a natural appearance.

The colours move through various shades of green in the foliage, while the trunk appears in darker tones. The light background creates calmness in the composition and highlights the form and details of the tree.

The embroidery is stitched with Danish Flower Thread, which produces clear colours and a distinct stitch definition. The structure of the yarn allows the many small leaves and branches to be rendered with precision.

The design was developed for Haandarbejdets Fremme and is embroidered on Linen 10B from Haandarbejdets Fremme. The fabric structure gives the embroidery a characteristic texture, allowing the tree’s details to stand out clearly.
